First grade students will:

• Read, write, create, derive and perform songs with quarter note (ta), eighth notes (ti-ti), and quarter rest rhythms.

• Read, write, create, derive and perform songs using the notes sol-mi.

• Sing age appropriate songs from memory.

• Play singing games from cultures around the world.

• Use a variety of percussion instruments such as drums, shakers and xylophones.
