2nd Grade

Second grade students will:

• Read, write, create, derive and perform songs with half note (too), half rest, quarter note (ta), eighth notes (ti-ti), and quarter rest rhythms.

• Read, write, create, derive and perform songs using the notes la-sol-mi and do.

• Learn about meter, time signatures, bar lines and repeat signs.

• Sing age appropriate songs from memory.

• Play singing games from cultures around the world.

• Use a variety of percussion instruments such as drums, shakers and xylophones.

• Learn about the instruments of the symphony orchestra.
